76th IIRB Congress

The 76th IIRB Congress, organised in cooperation with the French technical sugar beet institute ITB, will take place from 5th June to 7th June 2018 at the Centre International Deauville C.I.D in Deauville, Normandy, France. IIRB Congresses are the platform for knowledge transfer and networking in the sugar beet sector. An international audience of 400 people is expected to attend the congress. Current topics of sugar beet cultivation will be presented to the participants in technical and poster sessions.

Welcome Reception and Registration 4th June 2018

All congress participants will be invited to a welcome reception at the C.I.D in the evening of 4th June. Participants can already check in at the congress office in the afternoon.

Congress 5th and 6th June 2018

The IIRB General Assembly will be held in the morning of 5th June before the opening of the congress.

The congress will begin with the opening session in which France, as the host country, will present its sugar sector and will explain the interrelation of the different partners from research and consulting, growers' associations and sugar industry within the context of current European agricultural policy.

This will be followed by three half days of technical sessions on the 5th and 6th of June. Within both these communication and poster sessions topical issues and latest developments in sugar beet research will be presented and discussed. The call for papers will be issued in May 2017, and the session programme will be established in November 2017.

In the evening of 6th June all congress participants will be invited to the congress reception followed by the gala dinner. We encourage all attendees to use this opportunity to meet old acquaintances and to establish new contacts.

Field day 7th June

7th June will be dedicated to a field tour in the area. It will provide a detailed insight in the specific features of agriculture in this area of France. After the tour, participants will be brought back to Paris Roissy airport for evening flights unless they wish to attend the congress post tour.

Pre- and post congress tours, accompanying persons programme

Pre- and post congress tours and an accompanying persons programme in the Normandy and Paris region will be offered, allowing congress participants and accompanying persons to explore famous French sights of touristic interest.
