Accompanying persons

Accompanying persons are invited to join congress participants for the welcome reception on 21st June, congress lunches, the congress dinner on 22nd June and the field day on 23rd June. The accompanying person's fee of 250 € also includes bus transfer back to Mons or to Brussels Midi station / Brussels airport on 23rd June.

    Due to the current unpredictability of Covid regulations for summer 2022, the accompaning persons programme for the 21st and 22nd June 2022 will be confirmed in March 2022. Please contact the IIRB office by mail to indicate your interest in attending as an accompanying person.

    An outlook of the programme for these two days is presented below. Extra fees will apply for these tours.

    Accompanying persons programme

    Tour 1: Tuesday, 21st June 2022
    Cost: 35 €

    We invite you to join us on a pleasant Mons' city tour. Our guide will present plenty of information on historic sites like the church of Sainte-Waudru, an impressive Gothic edifice, and  the "Mundaneum", UNESCO heritage and one of the greatest international archives aimed at gathering, indexing and sharing the universal knowledge. Get in touch with the heart of Mons during the lunch break in a city center restaurant, and continue discovering Mons in the afternoon at your own pace.


    Tour 2: Wednesday, 22nd June 2022
    Cost: 45 €

    The second day will be dedicated to culture and history in the surroundings of Mons. The visit will take you by bus to famous economical and historical points of interest. You will get to know the site of "Grand-Hornu", 19th century jewel of European industrial heritage and its important museum of contemporary art. In the afternoon, follow our guide to the Borinage, beating heart of the industrial revolution and centre of coal mining. It is here that Vincent van Gogh lived and started painting. We will end the visit with a guided tour of the Van Gogh house in Cuesmes.
