80th IIRB Congress
The 80th IIRB Congress 'Advancing Sugar Beet in a Dynamic Environment' will take place 7th till 9th July 2026 at the Churchill College Cambridge (UK). During the three-day congress, current developments and research results in sugar beet cultivation will be presented in around 30 scientific presentations and 110 posters.
Who should attend
This congress welcomes professionals from various backgrounds, including research institutions, sugar beet growers' associations, breeding companies, sugar industry and further institutions in the upstream sector.
Congress Schedule
The conference starts with a reception drink on Monday, 6th of July (Churchill College, 5pm - 6.30 pm (BST))
The two conference days (July 7th and 8th) will cover six additional sessions, addressing issues related to agronomy in environmental changes such as increasing drought, weed control and weed resistance, as well as emerging pathogens and pests. In the opening session, invited speakers will provide insights into the sugar beet cultivation in Great Britain and new approaches to technical innovations.
Additionally, a broad spectrum of current topics will be addressed in about 110 technical posters that can be discussed with their authors during two poster sessions. A poster prize will be awarded to the best scientific poster at the end of Congress day 2. In addition, all participants are invited to engage in conversation with the sponsors present and visit their booths during the coffee breaks.
In the evening of 7th July, all congress participants are invited to attend a conference dinner at Churchill College to continue networking and discussions.
On 9 July, an excursion to the Botanical Garden in Cambridge will be offered in small groups, with a guided tour, from 10:00 am (BST) to approximately 1:00 pm (BST). The Botanical Garden is about a 5- to 10-minute walk from Cambridge's main train station.
