Farming Revolution

AI powered weeding robots for sustainable farming

Farming Revolution’s mission is to provide an affordable herbicide-free weeding solution to farmers.

The team has acquired over 16 million in-field images of sugar beets and common weeds (over 70 species) to train deep neural nets that distinguish sugar beets from weeds (accuracy > 99 %).

The plant recognition system is mounted on autonomous robots that remove weeds with precise electromechanical tools (precision < 1 cm). The in-field data acquired during weeding can be used for best practice information such as plant emergence, weed pressure or yield prediction.

The robots have been used on fields in Germany since 2016 and in Spain, France and the Netherlands for the first time in 2021.

Farming revolution is looking for strong partners in the EU to support the adoption of that technology.
